Outdoor Museum

The Historic Outdoor Museum of Roser Park was created by long-time resident, Ron Motyka and implemented by the Roser Park Neighborhood Association. It has won several awards, and currently features twenty-eight markers describing the neighborhood's attributes and history.

The Grand opening was held on April 25, 1999, with Mayor David Fischer on hand. The museum route initially wound along Booker Creek from Fourth St. S. to Martin Luther King, Jr. St. S. Since then, it has been expanded to most of the other streets in the neighborhood.

The plaques, mounted on 3-foot tall wrought-iron poles, describe historic homes, and some show early 20th-century views of the neighborhood which was first developed when horses and blacksmith shops still served the city’s transportation needs.

2023 Update: HRPNA is in the process of restoring and renovating all existing markers in collaboration with the St. Petersburg History Museum.
